2013 - First Sunrise

Got up early on the first day of the new year to join Karl and Justin to photograph the first sunrise of the new year. This is the 2nd year Karl and I have done this and it's possible that it could become a yearly tradition. Thankfully it wasn't nearly as cold as it was last year. Not that it would have stopped us. Starting the year off right with some excellent conditions for photographing a sunrise. 2013 you are going to be an awesome year. For those of you that don't know. 2013 is expected to be a year of very high solar activity. What does this mean? Well for those of us in the north and even those far south. There is going to be an exceptional amount of aurora. The northern lights as we call them up here are going to be extremely active this year and if you are a photographer that enjoys taking pictures of them or even if you just like to spectate this is the year. If you live in a part of the world where you don't get to see them plan a trip this year. You will most likely not be disappointed. If you can get up to Alaska, USA or Yukon, Canada in mid to late August that is the best time on a normal year. That far up north you get a wide range of brilliant colors.
